Los días afuera / The days out there
Lola Arias
Buenos Aires / Berlin
Nacho becomes a taxi driver, Paula starts working at an illegal clothing factory, Noelia resumes doing sex work and advocates for the rights of trans people: after a group of cis women and trans individuals have done their time in various Argentinian prisons, they are now performing scenes from their lives – turning them into fiction. After being released, they now have to ask themselves how they can look into the future although they are being chased by their past. They have all served their sentences and tried to start a new life, but now they are being confronted with the difficulties caused by their record. They share their most intimate desires on stage and in doing so, reclaim their future. They give insights into a repressive system and the fight for survival in a country characterized by inflation and right-wing populism. Los días afuera / The days out there, which is a musical, vaudeville, documentary and play all at once, moves between voguing and Cumbia melodies – an ode to freedom.
