Illusions:bruch

Hanover

What defines a "hotspot district" most accurately? Is it stereotypes like alcoholism, drug dealing, violence and lack of perspective? Is it friendships, school, football or walking the dog? Who gets asked about these things anyway? And who cares? "Illusions:bruch" wants to make young people's views of their neighbourhood visible, overcome stereotypes that are seen all too often, and to make them think: What desires and hopes do young people have here? What does their everyday life look like? And what do they need for a sustainable Hanover?

The "Illusions:bruch" exhibition brings the voices of young people from Sahlkamp, Vahrenheide and Mühlenberg into the city centre and onto Instagram. It is constantly growing through the contributions of its visitors and can thus be actively shaped. So go ahead: What do you think about your district?

Production credits

"Illusions:bruch" is a follow-up project to "Future Discourses of Social Cohesion: Talking about Utopias" by the TRUST Research Centre and the Wissenschaftsladen Hannover. It produced 30 interviews, which will soon be expanded by many more together with the SpeakUp! box. Afterwards, the travelling exhibition will move to the participating districts and offer tours in cooperation with the Solidary City Map of Ökostadt, where the young people will be the tour guides.
