Characters appear and disappear like shapes in Alejandro Tantanians theatrical universe. A woman is pursued by the love of two men. A large guy has to give up after a last passionate outburst. This woman is out of reach for him, and likewise for the thin boy who also speaks of his love for her. Only words remain, in layers, become thoughts and charge up the atmosphere in the room. It is just like Dostoevskys novels, a heart-breaking fiction. A spiritual not in the religious sense exploration of the multivocality invented by Dostoevsky. Dramatist and director Tantanian uses significant excerpts from The Idiot which are closely related to the lives of the actors. From this subtle network the main character of the performance emerges. This character, like so many in Dostoevskys novels, is finely drawn, amazingly realistic, almost tangible and yet out of reach: it is called I and struggles with its existence and death.
