Silent Disco
On the evening of the festival opening and every Friday and Saturday, the Festival Theaterformen invites you to dance! The festival centre turns into a dance floor for our silent discos, where the music comes not from loudspeakers but from radio headphones. These not only lend you a particularly galactic touch - the silent beats let us experience the Herzogin-Anna-Amalia Square from a completely different angle at night.

DJ Set by Yara Mekawei
Yara Mekawei is an electronic music composer and sound artist. A prolific artist and scholar, Mekawei‘s sonic bricolages draw inspiration from the dynamic flow of urban centers and the key infrastructure of cities. Interested in the philosophy of architecture, social history, and philosophical literature. Mekawei implemented the optical transaction from the musical conversation and transferred the sound waves to visual forms. Her work is based on sound as an essential tool of vision.
Mekawei uses the research literature specializing in the social philosophies in her concepts. She naturally follows her ambitious projects through a research point of inseparably uniting between a piece of work and the other, whose work shows an intangible aspect of her cultural identity and feminine in an East African society.
In 2018, Mekawei founded Radio Submarine / راديو†الغواصة†. As a storyteller, she is traversing African cities through the dimension of their sonority and music. One of the central connections between the different visits of each feature is water. Water becomes a space of transmission of African sensibility across the continent.

In addition to numerous non-profit cultural projects, the KuK-BS e.V. runs the Laut Klub on Hamburger Straße. The concept of art is constantly changing, the classic genres of fine and performing arts, literature and music are penetrating each other and are constantly being supplemented by technical innovations. Music was the first art form to find its way into digitization. This has been lived, presented and promoted in the KuK-BS for years.
Following the Silent Disco in the festival center, the Laut Klub will host an after-show party from 11:59 p.m. Visitors to the Silent Disco receive a 5 euro discount on admission that evening. You can find more information about the after-show party in the Laut Klub at: www.lautklub.de.
