Gut und Irmler
The improvisation fanatic Irmler fought his band into the front row of krautrock with noise and lengthy instrumentals. Around 1970. In this unlikely partnership, the ultra-cool deconstructionist Gudrun Gut dissects Irmler’s wild, sprawling sound. What sounds like an echo chamber heavy with history is in truth immeasurably vast. There’s just as much rock 'n' roll in its late decadence in the music as there is an understanding of time through the lens of LSD, the coming together of life and art, and the anti-authenticity of New Wave. These aren’t contradictions; rather they’re curtains going up for the duet as a duel. This concert will close Gut and Irmler’s two-day Power Composing workshop.
