INTERNATIONAL MUSIC
People used to mine black coal in Essen, that’s what is told in the sagas and legends on the western edge of Germany. A few large hills made of stone are what’s left of it. Iguanas live in these hills. The size of men, they’re bored all day, because iguanas don’t like sport, not even handball. So they strum their guitar strings, strum strum, to pass the time somehow. Three of them came together to form Germany’s first iguana band, which is also supported by the association Friends of Iguanas of North Rhine-Westphalia (unfortunately we didn’t get the logo in time to print it). International Music is the name of the band, and they look pretty human. Even more surprising: their debut album “Die besten Jahre” was a huge hit last year! Catchy melodies, a rubbish-dump variation on Warholian factoryness, proud and unbiased. Better than any music by humans. But what catering should we offer them?
