A video installation about life and death
With his new long-term project, Mats Staub goes in search of existential experiences and asks people from different regions across the world to share stories about their experiences with death and birth. Wherever he presents Death and Birth in My Life, people also share their stories with each other and talk about things we normally stay quiet about. The videos created in Hannover will be added to the voices that Mats Staub has already collected in other places. The growing archive of individual stories thus becomes a moving panorama of events that leave a deep mark on us.

Mein anderes Leben and 21 – Erinnerungen ans Erwachsenwerden, were seen in the last few years in Hanover and Brunswick. In his work, the Swiss artist condenses answers to common questions about life and turns them into exceptional art projects.

Death and Birth in My Life will have a total running time of eight hours by the time it gets to Hanover. For those who want to see all the videos, we recommend planning four visits.
