The Eastern Cape in South Africa. Xolani, a quiet factory worker travels to a remote camp in the mountains to take parts in an ancient Xhosa circumcision ritual as a mentor. His main job is to look after Kwanda, a rebellious teenager from Johannesburg. While Kwanda waits for his wounds to heal in a hut, Xolani secretly meets his old boyfriend, Vija. When Kwanda, who is himself gay, discovers his mentor’s secret, Xolani faces a decision.
