Film Programme: The Salesman (Forushande)
The Salesman (Forushande)
by von Asghar Farhadi
A couple from Tehran, Emad and Rana, move into a new apartment. Because of a mix-up with the previous tenants, Rana is attacked in their own home, an experience that changes the couple’s relationship. Asghar Farhadi packs his elaborately intertwined levels of plot and meaning into an exciting thriller that deconstructs complex constructs like honour, manliness and justice. His plot is also cleverly linked to Arthur Miller’s Death of Salesman. The Salesman won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film in 2017.
